The last World Cup was in Russia that was 2018 arguably a year ago.
France won the World Cup 2018, but that is far from the whole story because one never thought they can be able to reach the final.
So many players and teams performed in the tournament, the likes of Croatia, Kylian Mbappe, Modric, Belgium just to mention a few or underperformed, the likes of Argentina, Brazil, Leo Messi, and all Countries in Africa.
The last World Cup to be held in Asia continent was in 2002 which featured the likes of South Korea, Japan.
Not to forget that 2018 competition in Russia featured one geographically Asian venue, Yekaterinburg.
In addition the tournament will be the last to involve 32 teams, with an increase to 48 teams scheduled for the 2026 international tournament.
However, FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that this change may come earlier than expected and might kick off from the 2022 World Cup.
Other football legends didn't go with what the FIFA President said, many were against it, the likes of Barcelona legend Xavi wasn't in favor of it, saying it'll disrupt the competition and elongate the reassumed time.
Xavi being the global ambassador for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He further added "It's too much and too long," said the
Barcelona legend.
"Imagine 48 teams in Qatar, it will not be good in my opinion.
"It's still for the organisers to decide, but for now Qatar is doing everything to preJpare for 32 teams and it will be difficult to change it for more teams.
"Also, it's good for football to have 32. That's more than enough.".
