Fortnite Leak Hints at Earthquake for Season 8

One thing that players have come to expect these past couple of years in Fortnite Battle Royale, is that the world is always evolving. What’s more impressive is that the core map, the only one available in this mode, has remained largely the same in terms of size. Still, thanks to comets, ice magic, rifts, and even a weird purple cube, the Battle Royale map has continued to change in some way each season. With season 8 on the horizon, players may have a clue as to how things will change once again.

Dataminers have once again scoured the most recent update to Fortnite and inside they discovered a keyword that has set the community abuzz with speculation. After discovering the codename Festivus which eventually tied to an actual in-game concert with the musician Marshmello, miners also came across Earthquake, another keyword which also seemed to include references to this event. What isn’t known is where this potential event could occur, but as expected, fans are placing their bets on Tilted Towers.

Interestingly enough, this event appears to be connected to the recent release of the person trapped in the block of ice in the dungeon. The Prisoner escaping also seems to tie into a new unlockable skin known as Snowfall, which has four evolution stages based on this NPC character. Thanks to more leaked details, fans have discovered that the final form has a molten, fiery look to it which appears to be why the current map is slowly thawing out. Just recently, Lonely Lodge has been freed from the snow and ice, and the belief is that the rest of the map will thaw with Polar Peak ultimately revealed to be some sort of volcano. It seems likely then that the end of season 7 could trigger some sort of climactic event with an earthquake and an erupting volcano.

Fans should be well acquainted with Fortnite related leaks at this point as new ones seemingly emerge every week. In addition to the Snowfall/Prisoner skin, fans generally have a good idea of what sort of skins and weekly challenges are coming before they’re officially revealed. Even the Marshmello concert at Pleasant Park was discovered through leaked assets and data that was mined from update 7.30. If accurate, fans can expect to see plenty of cosmetics, sprays, and challenges coming this weekend.

Fortnite is available now in early access for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
